A number of Hollywood stars are demanding more stringent gun control measures…but these same stars have no problem appearing in ultra-violent media.

“Does Hollywood have a hypocrisy problem?” is the question asked by the NBC Los Angeles affiliate in a new story about how some celebrities demanding gun reform also star in violent films.

In the segment, Parents Television Council President Tim Winter said, “What they’re producing is not real, but the emotion that it creates are real. It’s a blatant double standard.”

I would like to comment on the TV channels that are primarily for the Hispanic population.
The “Spanish-speaking” channels are over the top when it comes to violence, drugs, profanity, sex, etc. The movies, the soap operas and even the news.
If these folks cannot produce anything better than this trash they should not be allowed on TV.
I believe that the general public stereotypes many Hispanics as these programs show.
There is not one news reporting channel where the women are dressed professionally. Most of them show lots of cleavage and wear dresses that are 4-5 sizes too small. When these women have daughters do they want them hanging everything out like this? No class, no self-respect, no self-dignity, no morals. You have to first respect yourself before ANYONE will respect you. It is an embarrassment….not all of us are like this. This is why we are in the situation that we are in. Filth is the norm now.
But I guess it’s like they say, it’s all about ratings. How sad!

The problem, as I see it, is that, with few exceptions, the Hollywood types are ultra-liberal, and their view on guns is only a part of what conservative, family-oriented people are fighting against. Most of them favor unencumbered sex, abortion, homosexuality, profanity, and the list goes on and on. In many ways, they live a sheltered life, away from the concerns of “we the people”. I believe that if they ever had to defend their family or self in a real life burglary or mugging, they would change their view on gun ownership in a heartbeat.

I think that all actors and actresses that have violent roles in film should be background checked, drug tested and should have to experience real world crime situations where they would have to be able to defend themselves. I think their tunes would change.

About the actors, you are absolutely correct! I like films where the good guys win! I would never protest gun ownership but try to implement laws where gun owners are screened periodically…
Everyone is accountable for their actions and films that they are in….

They’re all for gun control as long as it’s the “cool cause d’jour,” but not if they stand to make big bucks from starring in media with lots of gun violence. Truthfully, until they actually walk the walk, they don’t care about anything but the $$$.
