Nearly everyone over a certain age has fond memories of watching The Carol Burnett Show, which ran for eleven successful seasons on CBS, picking up 25 Emmy Awards, 8 Golden Globe Awards and 3 People’s Choice Awards along the way.

Few performers before or since were able to deliver deep belly-laughs like Carol and company, which is why so many fans were delighted to see that she will soon be making a return to TV.

Last week, ABC announced that Carol will be starring in a new comedy series by Amy Poehler and Michael Saltzman.

In an interview with Deadline Hollywood, Saltzman said, “I grew up — like millions of other people — watching The Carol Burnett Show, and idolizing Carol. It wasn’t just the hilarious parodies; her Q&As just showed her to be this warm, funny, relatable person… And then the very first meeting I had when I was trying to break into television as a writer was with Carol, who was exactly the same person in real life as she was on TV.”

Although the project has only just been announced, we are hopeful that, given Carol’s commitment to quality, family-friendly entertainment, this new endeavor will be a refuge for families who want to sit down and laugh together.
