    PTC Seal of Approval

A quirky, entertaining film with a powerful positive message.

Tim Timmerman has always been able to slide on by. The wildly popular student president of Mount Vista High School, Tim wants to attend Yale, then go into politics. He sees his chance when U.S. Senator Pete Anderson institutes the “Hope of America” award. Tim ingratiates himself with the senator’s daughter Sydney, as a way to advance his own selfish ends, only to find himself genuinely falling for her. But just as it seems all his plans are working perfectly, Tim is confronted with his own past misdeed – and finds he must choose between satisfying his ambition, or his integrity.

The first original movie from “clean content” consumer champion VidAngel, Tim Timmerman is a mildly strange but endearing movie, and shows the influence of films like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Napoleon Dynamite, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, full of quirky characters like a group of freaky-looking but friendly goth students, or an adult guidance counselor who seems far too friendly with the much younger Tim. Yet behind these oddball characterizations and a plot filled with bizarre twists (Tim and his fellow students play an “assassination” game which interrupts Tim at the most inconvenient and embarrassing moments) is a solid, serious, and important story about what it really means to grow up, to act maturely, and to truly take responsibility for one’s actions, and learn that others aren’t to be used for one’s own ends, but cherished for their own sake.

For creating an entertaining, clean film with a powerful positive message, the Parents Television Council is proud to award Tim Timmerman, Hope of America with the PTC Seal of Approval®. The PTC recommends this film for viewers over age 13.
