    Leap

An animated adventure with a powerful lesson about passion, discipline, hard work, and achieving your dreams.

Felicie and Victor have dreams. Victor wants to be the world’s greatest inventor; and, since childhoood, Felicie has dreamed of being a ballerina. When the two children escape from their orphanage in rural France, they flee to Paris. There, Felicie befriends Odette, a crippled washwoman who, before her accident, was the finest ballerina in France. Under Odette’s tutelage, Felicie gains entry to the famed Paris Opera Ballet academy. But in addition to facing fierce competition from the wealthy, snobbish Camille and her wicked mother Regine, Felicie still has a lot to learn about friendship, boys – and the kind of dedication it takes to truly be a dancer.

Originally released in Quebec under the title Ballerina, Leap! is a positive, upbeat animated tale with an appealing heroine, likable supporting characters, frenetic action, and a strong message about pursuing your dreams and never giving up. As is standard with most animated entertainment for children today, there is a bit of toilet humor, including fart and excrement jokes, but such are neither extreme nor overly intrusive. There is also some slapstick humor involving characters falling down and the like; but, except for the snobby Camille and her wicked mother, the film is not mean-spirited, and in fact Felicie learns valuable lessons about friendship. But the most powerful lesson is in teaching children the importance of having a passion for what they do, and being determined in sticking to their dreams.

Because of its inspiring messages and family-friendly content, the Parents Television Council is proud to award Leap!  with the PTC Seal of Approval®. The PTC recommends this film for viewers over age five.
