Christopher Gildemeister

Release Date: 7/15/2013

Starring: Andie MacDowell, Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Bruce Boxleitner

Based on the popular book series by romance novelist Debbie Macomber, Cedar Cove tells the story of the interconnected lives of the residents of the title town, a small, picturesque fishing village on the Washington coast. Olivia Lockhart is the town’s judge, who is offered an prestigious appointment to a higher court by her old law school friend turned senator. As Olivia ponders her decision, she is also concerned her daughter Justine, who is torn between marriage to a wealthy, older land developer, Warren, and her old high-school flame Seth, who is newly returned to Cedar Cove. Olivia’s own head is also turned by Jack Griffith, former big-city reporter from Philadelphia, who has just taken over the tiny Cedar Cove Chronicle and is trying to understand the quirky residents of the town. But Jack, Warren, and Olivia herself all hide secrets, which will affect her decision – and the lives of those around them.

The Hallmark Channel has proven that it is a dependable source for entertainment free of offensive content; and Cedar Cove is no exception. The program contains no foul language or violence, and sexual content is limited to a few kisses and a reference to one character being pregnant before she was married. Several characters make a few ethically dubious choices, but these hardly rise to the level of crime, or even flagrant immorality; rather, they simply show human beings struggling to do the right thing in sometimes challenging circumstances.

The July 20th presentation launches Hallmark Channel’s first-ever original prime-time series. After the two-hour premiere movie, a new episode of Cedar Cove will be shown each week every Saturday night at 8 (7 Central) on Hallmark Channel. The PTC urges viewers – especially fans of romance – to tune in; and for offering an involving romance story free of sexual or other offensive content, the PTC awards Cedar Cove with the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM. While the program contains no harmful content, it may be of limited interest to children under age 10.
